Everything changes.
Structures and frameworks fall apart and come together;
relationships begin and end, shift and transform.
Our vision of what we want is challenged by the actuality of what is.
I question how we find our way amidst the confusion
of shifting ground within and around us.
How does new life grow out of broken forms of the past?
What is important now? What is needed?
What can be, a next step?
I imagine our questions circle us around the dark unknowing
to stir new realities into being.
And in this process fresh vision and form begin to grow.
In the words of William Stafford,

Hi Gloria,
We are leading a group of Middle School teachers on an "Amazing Race" around Portland as a way to build teamwork and set a positive tone for the school year.
We love your installation "Threads" and the William Stafford poem that accompanies it. We are planning to send our teams to the Portland Building to view your work and reflect on the threads that they will follow with their students this year.
Can you confirm that the installation will still be in place on Tuesday, August 31?

I'm thrilled and honored that the work can serve your needs, and would love to see or hear how it affects/influences the kids.
Please know the typewriter is ready for action, to transform viewer to participant with all comments/stories/insights welcome. And they are welcome to use the rake for the puzzle pieces within the space.
